R.E.D picked up the pen and pad for the first time age 9 and started doing shows right away. His father Juan Nieves (DJ Juan) was a well known DJ in the streets of New York at the time, so he had R.E.D performing at every party and event he worked. He was in a group called “Kids On The Mic”….at one point. They got noticed by a record label and got offered a record deal but his father didn’t approve the contract. After a while R.E.D quit rap and moved to California. His father continued his DJ gigs in California which kind of made him want to get back into his rapping. So he picked up the pen and pad and started writing again. He kept his rapping skills to himself for a while…well he tried to keep them to himself until the first freestyle session came about. Once people heard him he was talked about and was constantly asked to rap almost every day.
He started to realize rapping was his calling and his passion. Also he started to realize that a lot of rappers sound the same so he wanted to be different…..So he started looking for a unique style that can stand out a lot more than the average rapper. He got noticed his senior year by his football coach when he did his first independent show at his school. He was starting an independent record label with his son who was the producer and he wanted R.E.D to be the first artist on the label. He did and started working on his first album “Red Alert” right away. They sold a lot of music through out the years, did a lot of shows and got a lot of fans. He has books full of amazing ideas for new songs that he would love to share with the world. His old label wasn’t doing too well so he started researching on how to get his own shows, promote himself, press his own CDs and more. He'll manage himself until he find the right manager that can give him the proper boost that he need to take his career to the next level. I believe his music can keep up with the likes of most multi platinum selling artists.
He's ready to shine, now my big question to you is: Are you prepaRED? I know he is…they don’t call him R.E.D(READY EVERY DAY) for nothing.
