Listening to Little Galaxies is a kaleidoscope of dreamy melodies, shimmering soundscapes and infectious rhythms. It feels like “warm waves lapping over you, watching stars shoot across the sky” (Kathleen Wirt, Owner 4th Street Recording Studios). Every second is atmospheric, emotional, organic and inspired.
Called “newbies to know” by Buzzbands.LA’s Kevin Bronson and nominated Deli LA artist of the month, the Venice beach based quartet composed of Jeanna Fournier, Amir Eshraghi, Brian Sumwalt and Adam Yasmin is quickly making a buzz in the LA music scene with the release of their debut album Patterns. Recorded, mixed, and co-produced by Sejo Navajas at the historic 4th Street Recording studios in Santa Monica (The Beach Boys, Fiona Apple, No Doubt), Patterns is full of dimensionally textured instrumentation and a soaring female vocal that takes you on an intimate journey through universal themes and introspective subjects, while paying tribute to psychedelic rock, folk, and soul. Their atmospheric sound has been described as dream-pop and compared to Bjork, the XX, Mazzy Star, and Portishead. Patterns “offers a whirl of melodies that are interchangeably introspective and a call out to the world" (Buzzbands.LA).
After meeting each other in a former band, guitarist Amir Eshraghi and singer/guitarist Jeanna Fournier immediately bonded over their love for lush echoing guitars and beautiful melodies. Spending hours together listening to music and sharing their favorite albums, they naturally discovered a sound of their own. They found themselves falling in love and what resulted were songs that come from the heart and soul, both musically and lyrically. Joined by Brian Sumwalt on drums and Amir's longtime friend and former Animatronics bandmate Adam Yasmin on bass, Little Galaxies formed early last year in the cosmic energy and exploding passion you can feel when listening to their music.
Little Galaxies has been keeping busy playing shows all over Los Angeles including a recent showcase at LA’s premier singer-songwriter venue, the Hotel Café, with Meiko and LA’s largest underground art shows—Pancakes & Booze Art Show and The Chocolate & Art Show. Little Galaxies most recently headlined at the Venice Art Walk at Google LA headquarters, performed at the Adams Street Festival at Lestat’s in San Diego, and played four showcases in Austin during SXSW in 2014. Little Galaxies is currently working on their follow-up music video for their next single "Safe in the Storm" and about to head out on their first West Coast tour including stops in San Luis Obispo, San Francisco and Orange County.
