I have been involved in music all my life & have performed many venues world wide . i grew up on a ranch out in Blunt South Dakota where we had a band in high school called " wild hickory " . we were 4 farm kids playing in the machine shed . we played for a lot of high school proms , dances & even held our own performances in the legion hall in Blunt .
i was awarded the opportunity to go to Europe with Americas Youth in Concert in 1976 . what an experience !!
i am working on a European Tour of my own in the future . Hopefully sooner than later !
when I first started touring to promote the " Up Against You " album I was about as broke as I had ever been.
You see , I sold my farm equipment & my semi trucks & trailers along with everything else I owned to get to Nashville to record & chase the dream !! All i had left was my guitar & a Harley Davidson duffle bag with a few clothes .
so I caught a ride to Las Vegas from Nashville in my brother Danny's semi truck & jumped out there & started beating the streets for a gig . I was fortunate enough to be able to test the waters on everything from the honky tonks to the casinos & even a few truck stops along the way ! playing for tips & putting myself out there . those were tough times !
Over the years things improved as I continued the uphill battle to sing my originals waiting for my time to come . The dream continues as I am recording new songs , playing the honky tonks promoting my new upcoming album ...
I spent time in Nashville where i recorded the " Up Against You " album . what a privilege it was to record the songs that were written by such great talents as the late , great , Mack Vickery, Aaron Tippen , Craig Dillingham ,Troy Martin , Skip Ewing just to name a few .
The second album " South Dakota Christmas " covers some of the great Christmas songs of all time . There are a couple new ones for you to enjoy as well. all rights reserved on all music & videos copywritten ... ken fanger
