Gil Conrad Johnson was born in the great state of Arkansas,at the age of five his family up rooted and moved to Benton Harbor Michigan,where he started playing bass at an early age with local group "Down In The Basement Band". During Gil's late teens he began touring throughout the country, then different parts of the world playing bass in a band (Soul Sounds of South Bend Ind) for the U.S.O. Program. Those travels took him to the mid East (Japan,Korea,Taiwan,Philippines).After returning.. the Sounds of Motown was a great influnce on him. He then moved to Detriot, before heading to California in 1976.Almost immediately was asked to join and play for the legendary Albert King. He remained with Mr. King through 1979 touring through out the United States. Upon returning to California, Conrad played in many local bands and worked countless studio sessions until co- founding his own band “B 4 Dawn” with future wife Terrie Londee. These days, much of his time is spent writing and recording material for the Level 4 project as well as “Voices For Christ”, a contemporary gospel group he also co-founded with Terrie. Conrad has worked to expand his musical skills to include; keyboards, drums, vocals, guitar, with many solo projects plus working with other churches and gospel artists.
