Gregory Scott Althammer is a songwriter that was raised outside a small farm town east of Cincinnati, Ohio. Growing up music was a large part of his life where all he could think about was creating his own some day. As far back as he can remember he has been writing songs. One memory that is forever embedded in his mind was when Elvis Presley passed away. Greg was 7 years old and he learned that Elvis did not write most of his big hit songs. So Greg asked his mother "what's better, to write your own songs or sing other people's songs?" He said it was like a light came on that has never went off when she said "You always want to be the creator". Ever since that day Greg has been writing songs.
In 2000 Greg ordered the Songwriter Market where he found an article written by Jim Melko (Dayton/Cincinnati NSAI Chapter Coordinator). He contacted Jim and never looked back. Since that first meeting at the Songwriter Workshop in Dayton, Ohio Greg has been a student of songwriting.
You can find Greg these days writing with his friends and enjoying life with his wonderful wife and incredible children in Maineville, Ohio. "One of the best parts of becoming a songwriter has been all the great friends I've made on this journey, not to mention how much I've come to appreciate God's gifts", Greg says.
