The VooDoo Hawks / Bio

Florida born and Carolina raised, Rikki Dee Hall has rocked audiences from the east coast to the west. From an early age he has shared the stage with such musical legends as: The Allman Brothers, Grand Funk Railroad, Humble Pie, Marshall Tucker, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and ZZ Top to name but a few.

Hall cites Lonnie Mack, Cub Koda, Albert King, Kim Simmons and Eric Clapton as major influences on guitar. In the same breath he names John Fogerty, Bob Seger, and Steve Marriott as his main influences as a songwriter and singer.

Bones Malone shares the guitar duties with Hall and is from parts unknown. Malone has been playing music since 1969 and lists his influences as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Walsh and Lowel George. His soulful slide guitar is featured on many of the songs that The VooDoo Hawks play.

Holding the bottom down is bassist Chris DeMott, formerly of Bud Grover Railroad. Chris hails from San Diego, California and over the years has opened for such artists as The Nixons and Kansas. With his influences ranging from Paul McCartney to Les Claypool, Chris brings a hard-edged feel to the band’s blues rock sound.

Keyboardist Skip Moore brings a little jazz influence to the overall mix of what is known as the Voodoo Hawk sound. Skip spent time in the military as a member of the Army band.

Rounding out the band's line-up is drummer Rosendo Rodriguez. He proudly claims his influences as Don Brewer, John Bonham & Michael Shrieve. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Rosendo has developed his own unique style that’s adds much to the heart and soul of the Voodoo Hawks. His abilities as a rock solid drummer make a perfect match for Chris's bass prowess and together they form a powerhouse rhythm section.

Since the band’s formation they have opened the show for such artists as Tab Benoit, Blackberry Smoke, James Cotton, Dick Dale, Bernard Allison, Leon Russell, Omar & The Howlers, The Derek Trucks Band, Savoy Brown, Jimmy Thackery & The Drivers, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers. The band has performed at such festivals as the Pikes Peak Blues Fest, Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Tejon Street Bike Fest and The Colorado Rock & Blues Festival. Together these fine musicians form an incredible musical unit that has been road-tested to a fine-tuned machine.
