SUSIE Q....COUNTRY, BLUEGRASS, FOLK, CROSSOVER COUNTRY/ROCK
I am SUSIE Q, nurse by day and singer/songwriter by night. After a very long break, I am back and working harder than ever before to promote my music and show case my writing abilities. My publishing company is now up and running once again and I am adding new material frequently these days. My songs are inspired by life...the good and the bad and I hope one day I will be able to inspire others to write. My plan is plain and simple...I want my music heard and enjoyed by everyone, everywhere. As my GrandMother once said....."If God hasa given you a gift, then you must use it or he will take it away".
I have been singing since I was a toddler. My Granny used to tell everyone that I never spoke my first word, I would stand in my crib, holding the rail and singing my heart out. My earliest memory is in church standing in the aisle and trying to sing along with the choir.... I am employed in a long term care facility in Boone North Carolina My Job title is MDS Coordinator which, in a nut shell, is a nurse who does a lot of paper work. I have been singing for years and have performed in a lot of weddings along with small town appearances (the biggest around 250 people). I have sang in bars/clubs in the past and even the mall and I continue playing small town gigs in my area. I am currently recording my first album which is basically a compliation of the old and the new. The summer of 1994, my Grandma managed to hook me up with Greg Carroll, an acomplished singer/songwriter, who just happened to live within 10 minutes of my house. Through this venture, I started my own music publishing company with BMI and wrote and recorded several songs. Imagine a country girl writing with the guy who, along with Doris Troy, wrote, "Just One Look", a song recorded by many including Doris Troy and Linda Ronstat I learned a lot from that experience and I am grateful! I dont believe it is the final result, but the journey itself that counts in this business and I am loving every minute of it, no matter where it may take me.
I record my music in a local studio and create tracks I use in my shows. Although, my primary goal is to get as many people as possible to hear my songs, I also perform various traditional and cover songs. I play mountain dulcimer, harp, guitar and flute.
