Clusters of Grey (COG) is a Folk-Rock/Rock/World Fusion band from Georgia, USA. The band started as a duo, grew into a trio and now includes several additional musicians supporting the band in live acts. The band's EP "For Rose" (based on Stephen King's novel 'Rose Madder') was released in Winter, 2011 in iTunes, Amazon, Reverbnation and other online retailers. The band was part of Guinness World Record for "longest continuous live performance" in "343 for kids event" at Johns Creek, GA in 2010. Clusters of Grey released the single "The Reunion" in Fall of 2012 in collaboration with record label Capital-USA. COG released a 2-disc set of studio and live compilation songs on it's website in winter of 2013.
The background history of COG is in itself an interesting journey. The band was born out of an online chat between two like-minded musicians on December, 2006. after being introduced online by a mutual friend. At the time, Glenda was a professional guitarist/vocalist in a christian band in Southern California while Rashid was a keyboardist for a World Fusion group in Georgia.
Initially the collaboration proved to be difficult having to work remotely, putting together bits and pieces of music while recording them about 2000 miles apart. Glenda’s move to Georgia in 2007 made things easier and the duo recorded several songs in the studio that Spring. By summer of 2007 Clusters Of Grey has released a few songs online via the Independent Artists’ portal garageband.com with moderate chart success.
In late 2007 they found an enthusiastic percussionist in Brian Burtnik while shopping at a Filipino grocery store! Brian’s taste in classic Rock and a great synergy with Glenda’s rhythm guitar made the trio click well. By early 2008 Brian became a regular member of the band. In 2009-2010 period COG expanded into more genres such as World Fusion collaborating with the band "Sur", percussionist Ravi and talented vocalists like Rekha, Yash and Purnima. This resulted in a World-Fusion hour set at Rev's and a slot at the Festival Of India in 2011. In late 2011 Brian took an indefinite break from the band and was replaced by Zen on drums. Brian returned in Fall 2012 with a notable performance in the "Sai Temple" fundraiser event at Forsyth Convention center in front of a cheering 1000+ audience.
In late 2010, Clusters Of Grey recorded their first EP titled “Rose”. It was released in iTunes, amazon.com, iLike and other online retailers in Spring of 2011. Capital-USA showed interest in the band in 2012 and helped release the single "The Reunion" in Fall of 2012.
The Band’s lineup has grown in size as Clusters Of Grey ventured more into regular gigs from playing at local coffee houses as a duo to playing for thousands of audience at large venues with over half-dozen musicians. Several notable musicians have collaborated or shown interest in collaboration with COG over the years including Andy Teck (former lead guitarist of Countyline Boys), Brian Bensky (pro Bassist), Benjamin Williams (Bassist for Indigo Girls).
