Carly Jo Jackson appeared on Season 9 of America's Got Talent, making it to Judgment Week and appearing in two televised episodes before the celebrity judges.
“Florida is home to many superstars, but one that shines the brightest is Orlando native (and Florida Atlantic University student) Carly Jo Jackson. Jackson’s passion for music and enthusiasm for life really shows through as she creates musical brilliancy with her acoustic guitar — which will win your heart in a second.” Scott Bryant, WordPress in “8 Women Musicians You’ve Never Heard Of…But Should!”
This young Florida singer/songwriter has a style that has been described by a fan as “if Jack Johnson and Colbie Caillat had a baby, she would sound like Carly Jo Jackson”. The soft yet infectious rasp in her voice gives her acoustic pop a soulful appeal and unique Florida sound.
Carly Jo appeared on Season 9 of America's Got Talent and was one of just 68 in the nation that made it through the first round of auditions performing first on guitar and then on ukulele at Judgment Week where she did not pass through to the live shows. She was first runner up in the spring 2014 Florida Grammy Showcase. She has been recognized for her songwriting with invitations to perform at the 30A Songwriters Festival and the Florida Music Festival and won the Pop category the Show Me the Music songwriting competition for her song Wildflower. Wildflower also was recognized as a Challenge winner in the 2013 Guitar Center Singer/Songwriter contest and was featured in the award winning short film, On the Edge.
Within a month of receiving a guitar on her 16th birthday, Carly Jo wrote her first song and was performing live in local Orlando area coffee shops several times a week. Her motto has been to embrace every performance opportunity, because you never know who is listening. This motto has been fortuitous. After performing at a family friend’s birthday party she was overheard by the founders of a start up indie music label, Arch Productions, who were looking for a young artist to mentor and record. She signed a one-year contract and produced her first CD, World at my Feet, in 2011. In 2012, while singing outside a yogurt shop in her then new south Florida home of Boca Raton, her captivating voice caught the attention of Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional. In return for providing vocals on a song Chris was pitching to a female recording artist, he recorded her single Wildflower in his studio.
Carly Jo is attending Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, where she now lives, but has taken the last year off to focus on advancing her music. She performs several times a week at festivals, clubs and restaurants from South Beach and Miami to her hometown in Orlando as a soloist, with a duo or with a full band and is quickly growing a fan base that, thanks to a large internet presence, spreads across the globe, well beyond her Florida home.
