Carly Jo Jackson is a Florida-based singer/songwriter with a bluesy pop sound who appeared on Season 9 of America's Got Talent (summer 2014).
In 2011, writer and blogger Scott Bryant featured Carly Jo Jackson in his article “8 Women Musicians You’ve Never Heard Of… But Should” describing her with: “Florida is home to many superstars, but one that shines the brightest is Orlando native Carly Jo Jackson. Jackson’s passion for music and enthusiasm for life really shows through as she creates musical brilliancy with her acoustic guitar — which will win your heart in a second." Her stage presence and love of her craft has continued through her music career including this summer, when she won the heart of Howard Stern and the other celebrity judges on Season 9 of America’s Got Talent with her on-stage charisma and unique vocal tone.
This young Florida singer/songwriter has a style that has been described by a fan as “if Jack Johnson and Colbie Caillat had a baby, she would sound like Carly Jo Jackson”. The infectious rasp in her voice gives her acoustic pop a soulful appeal and unique Florida sound.
After whirlwind 2014 that took Carly Jo from her Florida home to New York City, Los Angeles and Washington DC in pursuit of her music dreams and on national TV in front of the intimidating judges of American's Got Talent, she is hitting the ground running in 2015. She started the year in the studio to produce new original music to be released early in the year. She was chosen as a semifinalist in the Belk Southern Musician Showcase in mid-January and is awaiting results to learn if she will be a finalist. Her goals for the new year include the release of new music and more touring, and with this kind of start to the year, you will definitely be seeing and hearing more from this singer/songwriter in 2015.
Carly Jo has been working hard at her craft since receiving a guitar on her 16th birthday. She immediately started writing her own music and performing live in local Orlando area coffee shops several times a week. Her motto has been to embrace every performance opportunity, because you never know who is listening. At her young age, she already has years of performing under her belt and has developed an infectious stage presence that was evident in her America's Got Talent debut where Howard Stern described her as "charismatic". She has performed in front of audiences of 5,000+ and at large venues such as the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Hard Rock Miami and House of Blues Orlando but still enjoys the more intimate smaller audiences where she got her start.
Carly Jo has recorded one CD, World at My Feet, available on I-Tunes, CD Baby and other music sites as well as the single Wildflower. Wildflower was recorded in collaboration with Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional and Twin Forks) and Jonathan Clark. She has several recorded collaborations including crossover collaborations with other genre's of music. She is featured on two songs on country rock artist Billy Lord's album National Anthem releasing in early 2015.
Carly Jo attended Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and is currently living in Miami, taking time off from college to focus on advancing her music. She performs regularly at festivals, clubs and restaurants from South Beach and Miami to her hometown in Orlando and beyond as a soloist, with a duo or with a full band and is quickly growing a fan base that, thanks to a large internet presence, spreads across the globe, well beyond her Florida home.
