Quashawn Lamont Love was born on July 5th 1991 in Wayne, New Jersey to mother Shanise Butler and father Terrence Love. However, he was raised in Paterson, NJ. with his two half-brothers (one from his mother and one from his father.) As a child, he always enjoyed music, his first instrument was a drum set when he was three. He would always mimic his grandfather because he was in a band, and initially enjoyed singing as well. He never followed through with the singing, but always kept music in his heart by writing poetry and R&B songs. He was inspired to rap by his uncles Bryant "Haz Style" Myles, former 1/3 member of the NJ rap group Corporate thugz, and Devine "Mayhem" Lewis, formerly of hip hop duo "Foxx & Mayhem". He free styled for a family friend at the age of 11, and was dubbed with the hip hop name "Yung Luv". He stopped rapping to focus on school and sports. He excelled at football as a kid and volleyball throughout his high school year, intramurals of course. He is thought of as a gay rapper, but he likes to classify himself as "a rapper who is gay." He enjoys writing music, but says "success can come to me in many ways, and even if I don’t get signed, it won’t stop me from writing music. I don’t even think I want the limelight." When he turned 18, he moved out of Paterson to Sicklerville, NJ , where he met new friends and had them call him Lamont. He felt that it was a new place, new identity, new start. Soon, he decided that to add ez at the end of his name, and drop the La." He was then and now known as "Montez." He is currently awaiting the release of his first and HIGHLY anticipated mix tape, 5th of July, and is currently planning two videos for a his first hit , "shadows," and his next single, "Only One I think About" set to be released later summer of 2012.
