When Ashley Baker was a sophomore at Eustis High School she played the lead in a high school play. On opening night there was a Casting Director and Producer in the audience that were scouting talent for a Feature Film that they were filming around Florida. She auditioned for and got the lead female role in the film. During the filming the director told her that he had written the lyrics to a song years before that he felt would be great in the film but had no melody or music and would she like to see what she could do with it. She took the song and and recorded her first single “Summer Daze” which was featured in the film.
“Summer Daze” got picked up by IRCountry Radio Network out of Dallas and went straight to #1 on their request chart. It has since gone on to be the 3rd most requested song of all time on the network and is still in the top 25 almost 2 years later. Nashville Producer, Peter Young helped her pick 2 songs “Bye Bye” and “What a Day to Shake a Heartache” and hooked her up with some of the best known musicians in Nashville, her guitar player was Bob Hatter (Randy Houser’s Band) John Henry Trinko on Keyboards ( Randy Houser’s Band) William Ellis on Drums (Montgomery Gentry) Dow Tomlin on Bass and Jason Roller who plays fiddle, mandolin, bango you name it he plays it ( Joe Diffey, Kelly Pickler, Jake Owen, Wynonna and Dave Mason). Those records caught the attention of Al Shiltz and Mike Martinovich with The Consortium Group in Nashville who have worked with such names as Billy Joel, The Judd’s, Bruce Springsteen, Jason Aldean, Thompson Square and Band Perry and were instrumental in founding Broken Bow Records. She then heard from Randy Guidry and Debbie Holley of Holley-Guidry in Nashville. Holley-Guidry is a well known management and consulting firm in Nashville who guided the career of Tracy Lawrence. These people have been very instrumental in guiding her career thus far and she owes them a great deal of gratitude.
Ashley went back into the studio and cut “Country Girls Rock” and it took off on radio and went to #1 on Hot Country 102.9 in North Carolina and just entered the top 50 on Real Country Radio in Tokyo. It was the only independent picked by All Country 99.9 Radio in France along with 15 other United States country songs for the launch show when they changed their format to country, all of the other songs were artists signed on major labels. “Country Girls Rock” hit the TOP 5 in sales in Modern Country on CDBABY, which next to I-Tunes is the largest online distributor of music.
Next came “Might Be Today” which went to #5 on 102.9 Hot Country and that same week “Country Girls Rock” entered the TOP 50 in Japan. Ashley's new single "Cigarette Smokin' was just released to radio worldwide along with the video through her new label London's Billberg Entertainment LTD.
She is now Putting the finishing touches on the best road band out there and rehearsing for her COUNTRY GIRLS ROCK tour dates throughout summer and fall 2014.
