Claiming Orangevale as their home, Arrested In Mayberry formed in 1995. The founding members included Brion Hoffer on bass, Kelly Guillot on drums, Chad Atkinson on guitar and Chris Matthews on guitar and vocals. Shortly after, they added John Grove on harmonica and the lineup was complete.
In 2002 Scott Anderson (formerly of Kai Kln and Electric Flood)replaced Brion Hoffer and the official incarnation of Arrested In Mayberry was born. With a new bass player, a new name, and a new sound, the band gigged around Sacramento playing a host of venues including Harlows, the Distillery, Powerhouse Pub and Old Ironsides. Fife's Bullet, a six song EP showcasing Mayberry's sound, was recorded but never officially released. Shortly after, the band took some time to focus on families and careers, and the music was put on hold.
Regrouping in late 2003, Mayberry quietly rehearsed and remained obscurely out of sight, rarely playing live shows. In 2004 Scott Anderson relocated to Los Angeles and once again the band found themselves without a bass player.
Nearly 2 years passed before Mayberry would eventually reform. Andy Marinkovich, a pedal steele and dobro player from Auburn joined the band and brought a fresh newness of life to the music. Mayberry once again proved they were able to reinvent themselves, never once compromising their originality in the process.
In 2007 Eric Johnson (formerly of God Squad and It's Not What You Think) joined the band on bass, and once again, Mayberry was rehearsing and writing new tunes. Eric brought a new energy and inspiration to the music as well as a wealth of talent and experience. Consequently a new horizon was born, and the band began to gear up to do some recording.
