One Hundred Flowers / Bio

"This is the new Cosmic American music drawing on diverse traditions rather than just the narrow confines of the popular song." - Americana UK
One Hundred Flowers is a fivepiece experimental indie-pop group from Austin, TX. The members met swimming naked on the banks of the Indian Ocean. Born into a world of lavender lightning and tsunamis of holy men and thieves, the five emerged from the black waters in 2008 to stomp out the beast with bare feet and inhabit a rich landscape of soil, light, and texture.
In 2010 One Hundred Flowers released their debut LP, Mechanical Bride, and embarked on a national promotional tour. Mechanical Bride received praise from local and national press and in its second week of release landed on the CMJ 200 charts. Magnet Magazine named the album "Most-Looked-Forward-to-Release" after calling their first single, "Rat Trap," “indie-pop gold”.
One Hundred Flowers were nominated for The Deli’s "Artist of the Month," and are ranked amongst DO512’s "35 Most Popular Austin Bands of 2011."
Their raw and energetic live show attracts feverish audiences, while offering bright and forceful pop songs with complex arrangements accented by soaring harmonies, layered keyboards, and dynamic swells through unconventional rhythms.
The members are currently writing and recording their follow-up album, Lapses and Losses, due out in 2012.
