Born and raised in Miramichi, New Brunswick, Andy Murphy first took the stage as a young child performing with a number of local church choirs. Encouraged by his teachers, family and friends, it wasn't long before Andy found himself singing at many provincial music competitions. At 16 Andy naturally developed a love for guitar and song writing. Soon the act was moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick and Andy's music was showcased at numerous local pubs throughout the Maritimes. Andy played with several, well-known east coast bands such as Murphy's stash, Unknown artist and the popular, energized and funkadelic band: Lester Corp. Andy has recently relocated to Calgary, testing the waters of a solo musician. His most recent success placed him in the top 6 of the Vibe 98.5 star search radio competition in May of 2007. You can catch Andy's rhythm in the midst of Montreal's local music scene or - for a different angle - on CLT with the reality TV show Dreamchasers.

Press from the vibe 98.5 star search contest:
"The third act of the night was Andy Murphy. After Jessie's performance, the night really only had one place to go. And Andy did not disappoint. It was so neat to see the entire bar full of people kind of sit up and take notice. For me Andy's performance took this competition to way beyond a glamorized karaoke competition. His original song called “Homemade Fireflies” was honestly one of those songs that stays in your head well past its original performance. It wasn't untill after that I was informed that a homemade firefly was actually a joint! Catchy and educational, we might have a winner!"
