The Andrew J. Reimers Country-Punk Extra... / Press

“Country meets punk, ever so naturally, thanks to Andrew J. Reimers’ Country-Punk Extravaganza! Woes of classic country songs are coupled with recognizable punk riffs and beats for an all-over shake you can’t control. ”

“The Andrew J. Reimers Country-Punk Extravaganza (CPX) is somewhat of an anomaly in the Buffalo music scene - there really is nothing else like them. As their name describes, CPX is a little bit punk and a little bit country (and rockabilly and bluegrass and indie-rock and whatever else you'd like to throw into the mix) and they blend the two polar opposites very well. Guitarist/vocalist Andrew J. Reimers might be on to something here - and his bandmates, Fiddler/vocalist Katie Panfil, lead guitarist Eric Rovner, bassist James Warren, and drummer/vocalist Josh Mullin are the perfect compliment. The greatest thing about CPX? They are able to be a punk band without being too brash and they are able to be a country band without offending the nuanced tastes of indie-rockers. Their newest release is the 12-song Wide Right Blues, which is, to put it bluntly, an excellent country-punk extravaganza.”

“The production on ‘Wide Right Blues’ is great. As a vocalist, Andy is a powerful guy. There sure isn’t any self-consciousness in his vocal inflection. He is as authentic and strong willed as they come. A musician by sweat, blood and shows. A hell of a lot of shows. His songs will not beat you over the head with a brooding intelligentsia, but that does not mean his songs aren’t smart, they even tend to have a little bit of soul behind them. The songs of love lost are harsh, filterless requiems. His vocal output is the sound of a honey over cigarettes, and Katie Panfil’s harmonic vocal juxtaposition creates the beautiful milieu of the gruff, yet affected. If you want existentialist diatribes, go to Kafka. If you want powerfully raucous memorials, pensively detailed reflections on the vocalizations of the daily taciturns of a musician who has certainly lived the life he projects through song, Andy has them all day. Simply put, this is a fabulous debut record. (click the link”

“The Buffalo band with the most interesting name, ARCPX merge two distinctly different genres like a mad scientist. Although the group doesn't have an extensive discography to showcase, their live show infectiously fun is & they truly represent some of the best music to come out of Buffalo.”

“Listening to the demo of The Andrew J. Reimers Country-Punk Extravaganza gives you a good idea of what the group is all about. It’s a fusion of country and punk that isn’t quite “southern rock” and isn’t wholeheartedly “rockabilly,” but rather lead singer/guitarist Andrew J. Reimers’ own recipe for this genre-bending fusion. But listening is only half of the promised “extravaganza. Seeing the band perform live really solidifies their personality as the five members create this specialized sound right before you.....the group balances the two genres well, never allowing you to put them in just one box. Not a country fan? The Andrew J. Reimers Country-Punk Extravaganza is still worth a listen. There’s enough variety within the music to find something with which you can relate. If you’re still not convinced, then see them live where the blend really comes together and their hard work comes to life. **slightly edited to fit reverbnation standards ;) click the link!”
