Forever, Again

Broken vows, tarnished rings
Darkened house, wondering
Eggshell-littered floors and hostile silence
When I bid farewell to that prison cell
I told myself right there and then
That I would never love anyone
Forever again.

A rented room in my old name
Solitude, empty days
A table set for one, an unlit candle
It’s a different hell in this single cell
But there’s flicker of hope now and then
I’m wondering if I'll love anyone
Forever again

I’ve finally outlived the comfortless sorrow
And crossed the line from heartbreak to freedom
As I watch friends reach the altar I wonder...

Holding on, letting go
Waking dreams I used to know
After all this time I’ve lit that candle
I fantasize and light fills my eyes
The flicker has turned to a flame
I can’t believe that I’m thinkin’ about
Forever again
