As a small child, I often accompanied my father, a large animal vet, to ranches and feedlots. There, we would spend much time dissecting cattle and determining their causes of death. I would put on gloves and try to feed my dog lungs. At about the age of 9, poetry began to replace my agricultural pursuits, and by 12 years old, I decided I'd also write guitar songs. Now a vegetarian on the verge of getting older and that's all, I am filled with crazy rock star dreams and hope to starve valiantly as a poet. I will put on gloves and try to feed you my heart.
Amy Bronson was born in Calgary, spent some childhood time in Cochrane, and is now from Lethbridge, Alberta. Her first album, I'm allergic to this deodorant, is a haphazard release of songs about the heart, Alberta, and biology. For her song, “songs of the buffalo and people you don't know”, Amy has a finalist spot in this year's Calgary Folk Festival Songwriting Contest in the Alberta song category. She will be playing the South Country Fair in Fort Macleod this summer, and as many venues as she can even though gas prices are so high. She is relocating to Guelph, Ontario in the fall for university and a new perspective.
She's been a part of the Lethbridge music community since her first open mics as a fourteen year old at the Lethbridge Folk Club, and has been the opening act for artists such as The Fates, Ben Sures, and Ronnie Hayward. Amy has played at punk shows, acoustic shows, outdoor shows, indoor shows, little art galleries, high school shows, art festivals, and corporate conferences.
