Allen Shervelle / Press

“He made multiple trips here first and got a complete "lay of the land." Then he applied what he had learned and people he met every day. He got a job immediately and worked very well at it, advancing at his work position, better tips, better position. That took care of his financial needs for now. He also was out almost every night, performing and meeting other people. Within months he was a feature on every writers night he played on. From there he met a ton of people who were attracted to him by his energy, enthusasim and songs. Now he is booking major shows (a showcase coming up next week at 12th and Porter) has his own CD out, (featuring writers like Matt Casey) and is building a huge fan base. And he never expects anything. He is humble, focused and just keeps moving forward. He positively impacts everyone he comes into contact with. That is all him. Not me. So while yes, I take credit for pointing him in the right direction he did the rest.”

“ I saw Allen go above and beyond to put together a feature round at the Listening Room. That isn't a place you just happen to be allowed that privilege. Tonight from 8:00 until 10 or 10:30 the Listening Room belonged to Allen. He has earned that and he made it happen. He handpicked who would be there tonight to share the stage with him. He matched up who he would put with whom, and when he would bring them up. He kept them and everyone there involved. He made every single person who was in that room, performing or not, feel special. In fact, he made the whole event one of a kind. As I watched each part of the night unfold I could see how his thought process had worked in putting this all together. I saw him think the way Mab does. He did exactly what Mab would have done, with equal success. You’ve taught him so much Marc … It was clearly well planned, with a lot of thought and even more heart (dying to make that rhyme like those crazy Bostonians…lol…) I’m grateful to”

“ "What you have seen with Allen is Textbook. Coming to town by making trips first. Learning his craft. Applying that craft in shows in his home town. Making more trips with new information and songs. Moving to town. Starting out by finding a job and getting his life settled. Going out and STAYING out in the public eye. Playing and writing with different configurations of people. Always bringing a LOT to every thing he plays in. Hanging out with people, supporting other people's shows. Inspiring people. Writing better and better songs. Putting together his own rounds. Becoming the feature on rounds. Getting invited with hit writers to be in their rounds. Writing with hit writers. Getting higher and higher profile all the time, all the while writing with a LOT of people and getting better and better songs. Now doing his own nights on feature showcase nights." - Marc Alan Barnette”

“ " Allen Shervelle is one of the hardest working new comers I have met in recent years. He is a stand-up great guy who pours his heart and soul into everything he does. If I had to pick only one new-to-town person to recommend for the world famous Bluebird Cafe to swing wide its gate and let in... it would be Allen Shervelle. I've seen him grow in leaps and bounds as a writer, an entertainer, and a networker. Slacker is not in his vocabulary. This guy is here to play with the big boys. I highly recommend that you give him a shot at it. " -Jimbeau Hinson”

"Allen Sherevelle has DONE IT RIGHT even before he hit Nashville. Hooking up with noted teacher/mentor/writer MARC-ALAN BARNETTE, he made focused trips once a month, writing, performing, networking, and then returning to his home town of Charlotte NC, perfecting his craft. His energy and drive led to the writing and "Telly" Award winning video and song "Less Is More", and led him to many more opportunities. Since arriving in Nashville he has hit the ground running, performing in every songwriter's venue in town building songs and fan base. Writing dozens of songs a month, and scoring appointments with hit writers like Jimbeau Hinson, he has performed on NSAI's Tin Pan South festival, and is now a seasoned veteran around town. Just like the "S" on his chest, Allen is a SUPER writer, in demand and on the move." - Marc Alan Barnette
