2007 Grammy nominee, Alex Meixner is the 4th generation of a musical family of Burgenlander-Austrian immigrants in eastern Pennsylvania. With this family tradition of music it is no wonder that Alex was drawn to music at an early age. From childhood performances with his father, Al Meixner and 2 sisters as The Meixner Kinder, through performances with many renowned jazz, classical, folk, world and pop artists, Alex has developed a versatility and entertaining nature that has thrilled audiences at festivals, dances and concerts throughout the USA. Although his college major was on trumpet, he is equally recognized for his diatonic button and piano accordion styles (and fills in on bass, drums and keyboards as well as many other horns). A discography of over 50 recordings as a sideman and soloist is matched by a touring schedule that includes over 100 dates annually. Alex has recently formed a new version of The Alex Meixner Band for touring performances. This group includes other young musicians who are dedicated to continuing the tradition of European immigrants in the USA. This group’s versatility allows them to present dynamic polkas and waltzes, czardas, gypsy folk songs and even a variety of swing, rock, latin rhythm and country selections. In addition to the instrumental features, the band sings in 7 languages for a musical tour of Europe.
