“Many of those who encountered Charlene Elliott on her job were suffering through trying circumstances. Abuse, homelessness, addiction and traffic crashes are regular occurrences for people who find themselves contacting the Alliance Police Department, where Elliott served as the longtime secretary for chiefs Lawrence Dordea and Scott Griffith. The Alliance woman encountered her own struggles, including a three-year battle with lung cancer that she lost on Dec. 15. Friends and family are moving forward with a previously scheduled benefit set for 5 p.m. Saturday, which will help her family with her lingering medical expenses. She is survived by husband Darrell and two children. The XS Project, a rock band headed by Elliott colleague Sgt. Akenra X, will headline the event at the Dante Club, which includes a home-style buffet with food cooked by her family and friends. All donations are accepted.”
“The hope was for XS Project to draw a large crowd, and they did exactly that during a Friday night concert held outside at the red caboose in downtown Alliance. The band members brought clear, beautiful vocal skills and loads of professional musical talent to the stage, which is pretty amazing since the four Alliance men just formed the group in April. But the members have been in the music industry for decades, which is why the new band seemed to perform so effortlessly.”
