Age of Silence is back with the follow-up to their debut album “Acceleration.” This time they have returned with a MCD entitled “Complications – Trilogy of Intricacy,” and as the title suggests, this release contains three songs of an intricate nature following in the vein of Acceleration, but taking things a step further in the exploration of their sound combining elements from thrash metal, progrock, psychedelia and avant-garde insanity, among other things.
The lyrical concept of “Complications – Trilogy of Intricacy can be viewed as a continuation of “Acceleration” although not directly connected to the specific events that took place on “Acceleration.” While “Acceleration” was a conceptual journey in the vein of The Matrix or Dark City mixed in with some elaborate futuristic thoughts and concepts about issues relating to the stock market, invoices, and the rat race of human life in general, this time, envision that hell opened up a shopping mall and that you’re invited to partake in a shopping spree unlike any other you have ever experienced… and that it will surely be when Age of Silence is behind it.
For those who are not familiar with this acclaimed band already, they consist of legendary musicians from the Norwegian post-black metal scene, including Lazare (Borknagar, Solefald) on vocals, Eikind (ex. Khold / Tulus) on bass, Hellhammer (Mayhem, Winds, Arcturus) on drums, Andy Winter (Winds) on keyboards, Extant and Kobbergaard (By Pale Light) on guitars.
Their debut album “Acceleration” was voted album of the year for 2004 by the radio show Metal Reigns, and it has also received virtually spotless reviews from the metal press on a whole, for example 6/6 in Scream Magazine and also seven other full score reviews. So their new release “Complications – Trilogy of Intricacy” is definitely something that simply cannot be missed. Recommended to sinful shoppers of all ages and convictions!
