About
I'm an educator, poet, lyricist, playwrite, and author. I am an independent artist, so nobody owns me or the music I create. I'm not interested in gimmicks and imagery. I represent what I believe in and that is all that I can offer the people who support me. You will probably never see me on MTV or hear my music on corporate radio stations. And it's good like that, cuz mad heads are getting sick of the tired, corny, lame ass, exploitive bullshit that corporate culture has to offer. People are fed up with lies. They want the truth, and they want to be treated like by people by the artists they support, not like groupies and fans. That's what I'm about - taking an respectable approach to sharing my art and making an honest living off of it.
This is my dream; to get paid to share my truth and make no apologies about it. I'm fed up with the mentality that the only legit profession is one in which you work for a corporation that creates a product that can be consumed and then later thrown in the trash when it gets old or boring. On one hand, I am producing products with my music, my plays, and my book, but the point is not consumption. I'm "selling" my truth; what I believe in; what I represent. I believe we would live in a much different world if there were more ideas in the marketplace and less physical shit to make up for the emptiness we are sold on a daily basis.
George Orwell said that during times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act. In this day and age, just being yourself is a revolutionary act. I made a difficult decision several years ago to forgo a career in law to create art and educate young people. I make a small fraction of the money I would have made practicing law, but it's the best decision I ever made, cuz I'm living my dreams, no matter how small this shit my look to anyone who wants to diss me and my message.
Peace, love, and respect to everyone who supports me. Hasta la victoria siempre!
