Once upon a time in the small northern country of Canada, a zeppelin collided with a very black Sabbath and landed in the 21st century bringing together old school metal riffs with an updated sound. In December 2005, Richard Scott and J.F.Therien (The Abused) teamed up with Max Laurin (Ex Element drummer)and formed Addicts Of Affliction. The band hooked up with Kevin Jardine(Ex Slaves on Dope) who agreed to produce their debut album Asylum Awaits in conjunction with Uplift Productions.
