Mark Bellomy and Jeremy Salmons began playing music together in late 2000, when Mark moved back to the area from Morgantown. They formed an alternative- acoustic band, Sour Krowt Soup, and played several clubs around Huntington for the next few years. Evan Perdue made special appearances in this set up from time-to-time banging on his bass, however, he found a more solid home with Marshall Arthur in a local metal band called Symmetry. Jeremy’s life led him back and forth between WV and GA for a couple of years so Mark began playing solo shows. Symmetry parted ways, so Mark and Marshall formed a group which disbanded after just one show. Numerous auditions and jam sessions led Mark to finally found The Drones. While all of these bands kicked ass, in time they would part ways…but the drive remained in these four to continue searching for an outlet. Jeremy moved back to WV in 2007, for good this time. He and Evan began jamming regularly and eventually invited Mark to join them. It didn’t take long for this trio to get the creative juices raging, and they knew they needed one more member to complete their sound. Marshall was the only drummer that made sense. And so, the band known as No Pause was born. Adam Benz Singer/Songwriter Adam Benz is a local favorite, playing the bars and venues in the college town of Huntington, WV. The powerful southern voice anchoring his soulful funk-rock style has drawn comparisons to Dave Matthews, Amos Lee, and Pearl Jam. He draws from such diverse influences as Grand Funk Railroad, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lynyrd Skynyrd & Shinedown, resulting in a sound that houses the explosives for an evening of psychedelic blues. Benz's syncopated Appalachian rhythms & strumming with some southern jam-rock on the side, makes you want to "get up outta your seat!" Born on the banks of the Ohio River in Wheeling, WV. Benz was raised 55 miles southwest of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His musical beginnings can be traced to his grandfather, a Polish accordian player, who's playing influenced him early on. Benz attended Marshall University to study liberal arts where, in the company of other aspiring musicians, he began to sing and write songs. In 2005, he migrated south to Jacksonville, Florida, and his raspy drawl was well-received throughout northern Florida. However, family drew Benz back to his roots of WV where he has continued to hone his sound with the help of his band. "We play Funky-Southern-Soulful-Rock-Bluesness!" - Ian Davis (Bassist) Adam Benz's first full-length record "Lift Off" is expected to be released this spring. He has been playing solo gigs weekly, and his full band is filling clubs with its high-energy versions of Benz's original songs. Adam's stories highlight the adventurous ramblings of a 20-something American, including up-all-night escapades, life-size versions of his own experiences, and stories of his personal growth as a man. Benz's songs are passionate, thoughtful, and delivered with conviction! - Amy Burns (LabProductions.com)
