It just feels good...
it's some blue-eyed buttery soul. But it's also funk, R/B, and rock. Combining the spirited jams of soulive, Stevie wonder, and Bill Withers to name a few. It's a little maceo, a little stevie ray, and some doctor john. it's a plain ol' good time. come to church with us. in a bar....
About
Adam and the Waxmen took to the Portland music scene in 2006 with an array of original soulful sounds that have been spreading throughout the past couple of years. Adam and his Waxmen consist of a number of revolving musicians from Portland, Maine including Frank "cakes" Hopkins, Chuck Prinn, Bobby Queen, Daemien Allen, and Jeff Smith. The Waxmen released their first studio album "Just Play" in 2008 where they brought together the sounds of Stevie, Marvin, Donny, as well as an eclectic array of blues, rock, and funk. Frontman Adam Waxman began his playing career pretty late in the game at age 23, learning to play guitar and keys in a short time. Adam's true instrument lies in his sultry voice though, where he exhibits his love of motown, folk, R/B, and soul music. This six piece includes the playing of Daemien Allen on tenor and alto saxophone, Jeff Smith on lead and rythm guitar, Frank "cakes" Hopkins on keys, Bobby Queen on bass, and Chuck Prinn on drums. This big sounding band stretches out into a church like funkiness that will make you move and touch your heart; personifying their love and passion in the art of music.
