Abyssal Plains is the latest musical project of London-based producer, Maurizio Giambrone.

Typically tagged as Ambient/IDM, or Chill-out; abyssal plains draws influences from many genres from techno to soundtracks and classical music. The tracks range from atmospheric, dreamy chill-out tracks combined with subtle melodies to more beat-driven pieces.

Originally influenced by bands such as Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk, and producers such as William Orbit, Maurizio started off by playing in electronic bands/duos, who played a mixture of covers and original material.

After a break from music, enthused by the possibilities provided by the internet and software-based music creation tools, Maurizio returned in 2006 and under the alias ‘Abyssal Plains’, posted a couple of tracks on myspace. One of these tracks, the Balearic-chill style track ‘Daybreak in Roatan’ caught the attention of Nik Racine, the owner of the  kahvi netlabel, who approached with the offer of releasing material on his label.

To date, one album, Fourth quadrant of the mandala has been released independently as a digital download, available on iTunes, amazon and other online retailers.
