“Weird and weirder, ABC for Giants are one of those almost uncategorisable bands - when you play this four-track EP you have to check for a minute that you haven't played two of their songs simultaneously. But no - the multi-track effect is quite deliberate as frenetic lyrics and semi-dissonant melodies collide in anarchic glory. Impossible to pigeonhole, yes. But there are references, as nu folk nuances intermingle with neo-jazz jaunts, feckless rock recklessness rubs up to manic pop funk. The sound recalls late Sixties, US experimentalism but these eclectic concoctions are not merely nostalgic doodles: they have a strong contemporary pulse. This is now, not then. Early Jeffesron Airplane? Stranger cuts on the classic Nuggets collection? Acid folk? Psycho punk? Jazz kerplunk? The Captain may be dead but Private Beefheart appears to have set up shop on the shores of the Mersey. Listen and get lost...you may enjoy the trip. ”

“If you’re a new listener to ABC for GIANTS, one of the first things you will note are the typical elements of pronk, rapid key changes, whole tone and other unusual scales whilst still keeping the rock element of punk music. At first, you maybe unsure of what you’re listening to but as you listen on, the music along with strong vocals by Tommy The Cat and Lorin Zu reel you in like a fish attracted to bait. Not to mention, Jazz Cool on the guitar, Teflon Tim on the Bass and Matt the Daddy on the drums who add to the catch. At times, there are simply too many twists and turns of style to get a firm grasp of a song; but if you’re patient you will soon fall in love with ABC for GIANTS, and it will be worth it as you soon realize that the band evidently masks their music with imagination, emotion and passion that I imagine all five band members loved making. Rating: 8/10 ”
