Aaron Tilt was born & raised in San Antonio. He grew up on the southeast side, went to high school at San Antonio Christian School, attended Palo Alto for awhile, and then became a member of the San Antonio Fire Department – where he still makes his living. His real passion however, is the music. His earliest musical influence came at church, where Grandpa was the pastor, and Dad often led the music. He sat between Mom & Grandma, absorbing the beautiful harmonies of the old time hymns & gospel music. Mom and Dad's record collection was next, his favorites being Willie & Family Live & Credence Clearwater Revival. In his early twenties, he began playing around the area as half of the super-duo “Tilt & Bard” with locally renowned guitarist/singer/songwriter Jim Bard. Job restraints required Aaron to put the music aside for awhile, but now he's back with his debut solo album Bonnie Blue Skye. The music is heavily influenced by the likes of Steve Earle, Guy Clark, & Townes Van Zandt. He also incorporates bluegrass, Scottish & Irish folk, and a little rock-n-roll for a unique sound he's dubbed “Browngrass” (a little like bluegrass, but it's from a place where we're lucky if the grass is green, much less blue). The songwriting ranges from love-lost country to nefarious criminal exploits, to praise songs to the Lord – the giver of all good gifts. Aaron's other musical outlet is as a bagpiper in the SA Firefighter's pipe & Drum Brigade – check them out at parades around town. So take a ride through the Bonnie Blue Skye.
