Second Dam / Press

“Swimming just might have been one of the best albums of 2013, and one of the most promising debuts in recent memory. I can’t speak highly enough of this work; I can only urge you to listen immediately.”

“Second Dam also played a few even newer songs not on this album that truly showed off their incredible ability to create slow-paced, yet commanding music. My heart wrenched watching Weston on stage, following the emotions of the song as if for the first time...Their performance has dramatically improved since their start-up days, and I can’t wait to see what they do next.”

“The music feels recognizable but utterly original...The album continues with not a single dud from the knee slapping “The SS” to the grandiose “Brick by Brick.” Bottom line with this album is that you should already be listening to it because it is one of the funnest, pure energy type albums I have heard in a while.”

“Second Dam has a way of making their songs suspenseful in a way that captivates the listener and commands full mental and physical attention. Their musical depth was pervasive and the crescendos of their songs reverberated wall to wall. The added vocal harmonies provided a sound that cannot be compared to any other band. Each song the band played sounded totally different from the one before. It kept the night feeling fresh, and it seemed that even people who had never heard Second Dam before were able to sing along.”

"Five part harmonies, bouncing bass lines, a string section that will make your heart melt, sweet sweet guitar riffs, a drummer who probably should be medicated, and a singer with more power and range than the power rangers. that's Second Dam. we hope our music makes you smile. "

Andrew Weir - On Second Dam

"The use of violin and ukulele are what make this band stand out for me. They have an earthy, autumnal sound that feels like a cloudy Saturday afternoon in October (anyone who knows me personally would be quite impressed at such a compliment, those who don't - just take it on faith). These two instruments are also not used in an overly cliched way, but integrate themselves such that they would be sorely missed if one or both weren't there."

“In a college that's devoted to music, there are some bands that stand out from the crowd. Second Dam is one of Ithaca College's most popular student bands, performing consistently throughout the semester and creating some amazing song hits that bombers love to listen to.”
