  The OFFICIAL MassArt Poetry Slam returns! Continuing to provide an open forum for poets and musicians and artists of any kind to share their work, while having a hell of a good time in the process. Poetry Slam has taken the art of the written word, and breathed new energy into it and has given audiences the raw in-your-face feel of the words and the performer behind it. This being our inaugural poetry slam event of the new year, we are extremely excited to bring you the newest MassArt poetry slam in the Godine Family Gallery in the North Building! Join us for a night of music, poetry, and just great art that will entertain, enlighten, encourage, and inform. Free food will be available as well! Here is the basic rundown of the night... 8:00/8:15 - Open Mic (12 slots)... This can include musicians, rants, or whatever... just as long as your clothes are on, then we're good. Poets, Ranters, Whatever gets 4 to 5 minutes of stage time... Musicians get 8 minutes. Please stick to this, because we are on a tight schedule. And, also... The open mic list goes up as soon as the doors open. Once we start the slam, the list is closed. So that means you should plan on showing up before 7:45, or else we cannot put you on the list. This was a problem last time, and we are seeking to not have that make the evening even longer. So, show up on time to get a spot, or you won't get a spot. period. sorry. 9:00/9:15 - FEATURE POET: TBA Break 9:45/10:00 - Poetry Slam (5 slots), the competitive art of the Performance Poetry. For the brave people about to slam, it will be awesome and it will be so much fun! trust me! If you're a writer, then you should SLAM! Poets in the slam will be competing for a spot to represent MassArt at the College Union’s Poetry Slam Invivititaional in 2012. The Rules of The Poetry Slam: 1). There are five judges picked at random from the audience. 2). All Poets will be scored on a scale of 1 - 10. 10 being the highest. 1 being the lowest. You'll get 5 scores, we drop the high score, drop the low score, and the middle through is your final score... But remember... THE POINTS ARE NOT THE POINT. 3). Every poem must be under 3 minutes and 10 seconds... After that, points will be deducted from your score. 4). All poems must be original pieces. 5). No Props, No Costumes, etc... Otherwise... bring the dopeness...

  I invite you to come out and enjoy Arts in the Park Graffiti Arts Show at the Clement Morgan Park (Columbia/Washington St, Cambrdige) Saturday, August 13th 3pm – 8pm. The FREE event showcases the works of local graffiti and street artists; please feel free to invite friends, families, siblings, and I challenge you to also be bold and invite strangers if you dare. your support is much needed and well appreciated.
