"The Material Minded" runs down a familiar list of mainstream hip-hop beefs — from flashy Sucker Free videos to local rappers who talk like they're from Texas. But anti-rap hip-hop is now officially as clichéd as grills and blunts. More interesting is "The Text Books," which finds the rhymer-producer shouting out to boyhood heroes Winnie the Pooh and Michael Jackson, backed by a somber horn sample that sounds like a dying dream.
