THe Kansas City Jazz Orchestra presents "A BIG BAND CHRISTMAS" A perfect opportunity to celebrate the holiday season in Kansas City! This performance on the Plaza will feature some of the most beautiful big band arrangements ever written from a variety of arrangers including Rob McConnell, Duke Ellington, Bill Holman, Tom Kubis, Bob Florence and our very own Kerry Strayer. A special pre-concert performance by the Kansas City High School All-Star Jazz Ensemble will take place at 7:30 p.m.

The 2009-2010 Concert Season - Concert Three: "Sweet Kansas City!" - NEW DATE: April 30, 2010 - Folly Theater • 8 p.m. The Orchestra will continue the "Celebration of Kansas City Jazz" with a presentation of the complete "Kansas City Suite" by Benny Carter. A ten movement body of work includes songs entitled: Rompin' at the Reno, Vine Stree Rumble, Jackson County Jubilee, Miss Missouri and other great titles that showcase the many swingin' sounds of Kansas City.

The 2009-2010 Concert Season - Concert Two: "The Best of the Big Bands" January 9, 2010 - Yardley Hall, JCCC • 8 p.m. The Orchestra will be featured performers during Johnson County Community College's four-day jazz festival which will be an educational summit for middle, high school and college jazz bands. KCJO will perform a varity of hits from legendary big bands such as Basie, Ellington, Kenton, Herman and Goodman. Tickets to this concert will be sold separately.
