“A lot of familiar faces return to the Rusty Hook stage as part of this three-act local lineup ranging from alt-country to folky soul to straight up mind-altering psych-rock. Heady Sarasota five-piece Villanova Junction headlines the night with a mixed bag of eclectic styles laden with copious vocal harmonies and touching on genres from classic psychedelia and ’60s mod to the Beatles and Elvis. Suncoast-bred and Nashville-trained pop-country songstress Sara Nelms has improved her guitar skills and vocal control dramatically since first hitting the scene as a solo artist last year, which is partly due to her frequent practice sessions and gigs with fellow billed performer Justin Layman. After years of extensive touring throughout the Gulf Coast states, Johanesen has become known well beyond the Suncoast. Austin’s KOOP 91.7 FM, for instance, will be airing an interview with the artist this Wednesday, May 6, during the station’s “Writing On The Air” program.”
