About
Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in a few towns (Roosevelt, Long Beach and Lakeview) of Hempstead, Long Island, N.Y. Raised on music such as James Brown, Maynard Ferguson, Fifth Dimension, Sly & The Family Stone, Hugh Masekela, Ramsey Lewis, The laws Family, Quincy, Herbie Hancock, Mitch Miller, Al Green, Jimmy Smith, Deodato, Chuck Mangione, E.W. & F., Jackson Five, Norman Conners, Isaac Hayes, Barry White, Slave, Ohio Players, Kool & The Gang, BT Express, The Isley Brothers, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Rick James, Prince, Lou Rawls, Steve Miller Band, Stanley Turrentine, Arthur Fiedler & The Boston Pops etc...They all had a groove I could dig. I mainly wanted to be like Isaac Hayes. Trying to play all instruments but never mastering one kind of thing. Then later in life, around 1978 I got my first taste of PRINCE. A schoolmate of mine by the name of Ralph Dunnings was showing me these record crates his brother Artie had brought home. We would sit and pour through those albums (all DEMO's) and just discover new music. This particular album (For You) got lifted of that crate, we looked at it and put it on the turntable and we were hooked. I remember our buddies weren't feelin' it, but Ralph and I told them, "watch!, this guy is be the joint one day". Anyway, dreams often get derailed by non-other than parents who always want us to take the safer routes through life. We're lucky that a hand full of us ever find our way back to those childhood dreams. Which sums up all that I'm doing these days, I'm Just Dreamin' My Dreams! >
