About
Dreaming in Stereo is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist singer song-writer,and record collector, Fernando Perdomo. Perdomo is one of Miami, Florida's most in demand sidemen and this project lets him make music that defines who he really is with a happy marriage of Power Pop and 70's era Art- Rock Perdomo calls, Progressive pop.
Recently signed with New York based label Dying Van Gogh, Dreaming in Stereo is putting out a special collectors edition 6 song E.P. in March 09 called Six Track Mind with a full length scheduled for early Summer release. Songs like "Steal this Song" and "Im not going to move to LA" are blatant social commentary set to a universal mash up of modern alternative with 70s nostalgia rock hinting at echoes of Todd Rundgren's Utopia, Supertramp, and Frank Zappa. "LA" has been heralded as Miami's new musical anthem critticizing the lack of support Miami has for live music disguised in a defiant battle cry proclaiming "I'm staying right here!". Songs like Lazy and Smile represent a softer poppier side of the music heavily leaning toward the influence of LA power pop legends like Jason Falkner, John Brion, and Micheal Penn. One unique aspect of the E.P. is the presence of 2 instrumentals focusing on Fernando's melodic and powerful guitar style. "Secret Sound 72" is a tribute to Todd Rundgren who Dreaming in Stereo will be opening forr in front of thousands. "Orlando's Song", penned by Fernando's older brother in the late 70's was heralded by Guitar Player magazine's Michael Molenda as breathtakingly beautiful, full of surprises, and absolutely stunning.
Live, Perdomo is augmented by Roger Houdaille on bass who is Fernando's band mate in the nationally acclaimed alternative band Transcendence. Roger also fronts the critically acclaimed pop band Ex Norwegian who is also on Dying Van Gogh. On drums is Derek Cintron who fronts arena rock band DC-3 of which Fernando is also a member. Flute virtuoso Cynthia Kivlan rounds out the band with her unique Ian Anderson inspired playing. The Musical incest is a good thing, this band has made music together for almost 10 years now. Solo shows are a spectacle of sound, as Fernando uses a rudimentary looping pedal to loop his Vocals, and guitar in a very musical way. "Im the only solo performer with 5 part harmony backing vocals" Perdomo proclaims.
