Three friends from Saint Cloud, Minnesota who met back in September of 2004 decided to get together and have a few jam sessions to see how their music would blend together. One played guitar, two spit rhymes. With the crazy beats playing in the background, you could hear the guitar blend in nicely with the beats as the other two individuals freestyled away. They were amazed at the sound they were producing, so in April of 2005 they decided to form a group and take it to the next level, and that's when MC's Abe Fitisemanu (Active Oner) and Luke Wallaker (L-DuB) with guitarist Rob Feiler (Smokin' Robs) formed Distant Strangers. Since getting together, they've rocked crowds ranging from 10 to 100+ people, recorded numerous studio tracks for their upcoming album, been featured in local publications, opened up for a few big name artists (2 Live Crew in 2006, Do Or Die in 2007, J-Kwon and Meech in 2008) and collaborated with all kinds of different local artists to help the Central Minnesota underground hip hop scene grow and shine bright. Mixing the genres of rock and hip hop together as one, they have come up with their own genre of music, which they've called 'hip-rock'. Crazy structured beats, wacky keyboards, shredding guitar riffs from Smokin' Robs and the insane lyricism from Active Oner and L-DuB is what makes Distant Strangers who they are. Themselves.
