Bio
Just weeks following their album release, Descending New Angels were called for a live radio interview and five songs hit the air. DNA offers a lighter alternative, a hint of southern rock, blues and grunge, a symphonic style and constant dance between acoustic and electric guitars. Acoustical melodic starts lead into an intricate classical texture throughout each song. An impressive lead guitar with speed, agility and alternating rock riffs and blues bends. Vocals that silence a noisy club with passion, amazing control, moving from soft melodic tones to soulful bellows. DNA has played 175 shows along the Mississippi. KDHX host Dan Kinney compared them to Government Mule. If you enjoy Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, 3 Doors Down, check out DNA.
About
Who says rock can't be beautiful? Every once in a while you hear a tune for the first time and are blown away by the vocals. Descending New Angels' lead singer Randy Shanks has a uniquely rich and powerful voice, dripping with sweetness. His control and range are amazing as he shifts from soft melodic tones to soulful bellows. Many also comment on this band's guitar talent as they artfully weave acoustical melodies with bluesy electric bends and jolts of pure rock. The driving vocals are not the only thing that sets this band apart, the combined talents of all members are putting them on the fast track regionally.
Descending New Angels blends rock and blues with a pinch of grunge, a subgenre their fans call "blunge rock". This band rooted in 1999 with Randy & Erik blending poetry into acoustical melodies. They quietly perfected dozens of songs before taking the stage in 2007. DNA has achieved much in a short time, distributing several great demo CD's and performing over 100 shows at many top venues in
DNA uses the internet intensely to promote their music and as a result has gained fans from afar. Their self-produced demo CD and streaming audio landed requests to air from three radio stations--IChannel.FM, radioultra.ru in
There's a sweet and salty contrast between the electric and acoustic guitars--Erik's acoustical ballads and Randy's bluesy bends tantalizes the ear. With every masterful pick and strum on the acoustic, Erik romances the strings of your heart. With crisp rhythmic precision, Keith drums in rolling waves that rock you into an altered state. Mike adds a soothing depth of bassy undertones. Perhaps it's the mix of European and earthy Native American genes that add the dimensions so many fans say 'grab them'. All we know is this recipe whips acoustic and electric together into a richness that sits atop layered rhythmic beats and bass, like a 'slice of pie' you just can't resist! There is no doubt about their passion, discipline or attention to detail, as the intricacies of their sound floods your senses.
