THE STOOP CONCERT SERIES CELEBRATES ITS 7TH SEASON WITH JESSY TOMSKO, ASHLEY DANEMAN, & COURTNEY WONG SEPTEMBER 20TH NYC indie bands showcased at Hell’s Kitchen landmark Church For All Nations. NEW YORK, New York – August 4, 2014 – The Stoop, a distinctive music venue in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, is thrilled to present the Kick-Off of its 7th Season featuring bands fronted by Jessy Tomsko, Ashley Daneman, and Courtney Wong on Saturday, September 20th. Jessy Tomsko has a love for music that transcends the simple pop tunes that plague much of today’s music scene. With her inspired lyrics and catchy melodies, Jessy celebrates life and love in her acoustic renditions brought to life on the many stages of New York City. She’s also had the honor of sharing the stage with artists such as David Berkeley, James Maddock, John Francis, Amber Rubarth, and Ari Hest among many others. In 2011, she teamed up with Concerthouse Music Management and Blue Pie Records. Her music has been called, "heartfelt and poignant. Her...style will win you over." – Women of Substance Radio Ashley Daneman creates expressive audio landscapes at the intersection of jazz and modern folk music described as “…an uncompromising concoction of subtle and intimate jazz with a touch of hipster singer-songwriter,” (West Michigan Jazz Society). USA Today calls Ashley “a fine young jazz vocalist,” who honed her chops in Washington, D.C. and New York City. “Ashley owns a decidedly individualistic style and a willingness to take interpretive risks,” says All About Jazz. Courtney Wong is not only a talented singer-songwriter but is also a New York City Urban Project Artist working to bring awareness to and combat the issues of urban poverty and suffering through her music. She recently celebrated the release of her newest album, “Release. Revive. Right on Time.” live at The Stoop. In 2012, she released her first official music video for “Taking a Stand” and won the 2012 Campus MovieFest Elfenworks Social Justice Award. For her work, Courtney has been featured by World Vision and MTV. The event will be emceed by Chris MacIntosh (aka “Grandfather Rock”) of WCWP Radio’s “Rock N Soul Gospel”. Doors open at 7:30 pm., and showtime is at 8pm. Arrive prior to the show for a personalized hand-drawn sketched portrait by artist Ellen Stedfeld, who will also be live sketching the event (EllesaurArts.com). While the concert is free/pay-what-you-wish, The Stoop will be accepting suggested donations of $12. Patrons will receive a free gift with the full suggested cover. All drinks and concessions including beer and wine are inexpensively priced under $5. The Stoop Concert Series and venue are presented by Music Forum of Church For All Nations, Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. NEW YORK, New York – June 5, 2012 – The Stoop, a distinctive music venue in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen is gearing up for a night of NYC’s Indie favorites, The Welcome Wagon, Courtney Wong, and Melanie Penn. The Welcome Wagon is a married couple, the Reverend Thomas Vito Aiuto and his wife Monique, who execute a genre of gospel music that is refreshingly plain. Their hymns are modest and melodic takes on a vast history of sacred song traditions, delivered with the simple desire to know their Maker—and to know each other—more intimately. Enjoy music from their newest album Precious Remedies Against Satan’s Devices, a gathering of friends making music together - an alt-folk gem that sounds very much like it comes out of the Asthmatic Kitty label (co-owned by Sufjan Stevens). The Welcome Wagon’s music is a, “…genuine, beautiful and positively joyous celebration of music, faith and, …Jesus.” – Karolina Rous, SoundProof Magazine Courtney Wong is not only a talented singer-songwriter but is also a New York City Urban Project Artist working to bring awareness to and combat the issues of urban poverty and suffering through her music. Nov 18

    Elmhurst, NY, US | 7:30pm

Prayer is not a one way conversation where we leave voicemails for the man upstairs. But instead it can be a powerful experience where we interact with the One who spoke the world into being. Through speaking or silent, alone or in a group, standing up or kneeling, we can call on God. On November 18 we will follow the framework set forth by Jesus in Matthew 6 and ask Him to teach us how to pray! This will be a wonderful time of praise, worship and learning together as we intercede for each other and the city. A curriculum will be distributed for leaders to reproduce among their own congregations. We look forward to seeing you there! Any questions please email nycurbanproject@gmail.com *Note, there will be chinese translation. If another language is needed please email immediately. Leaders and Worship Team include: Jonathan Walton He is the New York City Urban Project Director for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship where the vision is the develop students and volunteers with the character and capacity to change the world. Courtney Wong – Piano Courtney is a New York City Urban Project Artist and has led worship for NYCUP Spring Break and Summer Immersion Programs the last 3 years.
