About
Growing up playing violin at the age of 8 Christopher yearned for something more visceral and picked up a guitar at the twilight of his junior high years. From there he evolved into a musical sponge soaking up experience through choirs, orchestra, jazz band and various cover groups as a high schooler. Seeking insight he attended Belmont University in Nashville, TN. While there he learned how to build a line, analyze the art out of music and honed his live skills. He also was fortunate to land a guitar tech gig that gave himn valuable hands on experience.
Settling outside of Nashvegas Andrews further worked on his craft by teaching for the past 7 years. A move to Richmond, VA landed him in a blues band, Johnnie & The Lowdowns where he served as the arranger and shared guitar duties. His lead work, as displayed in "Recycling Man" shows the influence of blues and rock in his style. He left the Lowdowns to start the Andrews Blues Commission- a short lived instrumental Blues trio. Upon entering the River City Blues Society's Blues Challenge the ABC finished 2nd out of 6 bands without singing a note and relying heavily on the 3 originals they played during their set. Faring this well without words has left Andrews with a sense of optimism that future projects, which may include guest vocalists, can yield great results and music that is both timeless and original. Christopher has played guitar since the age of 13. He has also formally studied violin and piano. He credits his parents with an early enthusiasm and support of his music. He played in the Grammy All Star Jazz band at 18 and finished his B.M. at Belmont University. He has toured for Yamaha Instruments as an artist rep and recorded with Johnnie and The Lowdowns. He enjoys teaching guitar and other stringed instruments when he's not composing songs for the guitar. Please enjoy the music and share it with someone. Thanks for listening.
