8 MINUTES TO BURN / Press

“8M2B, as they are affectionately dubbed by their fans who they call 'Party People,' headlines the FaR OuT Band & Fan Jam June 8, 'a truly unique music festival that was founded by Jack Rice and friends at the FaR OuT Ranch near Snowflake.' The Facebook Community for this event describes it as a 'journey off-the-grid…into the high-desert wilderness of the Anasazi Valley… a magical sight to behold in all of nature’s glory. Some say that stage has healed the land, others claim to have found new life-energy during the festival; either way, one thing is for sure, the FaR OuT ranch, as Jack always says, ‘brings us all closer to the music.'”

“Neal Briant (a.k.a. Dr. L.I.F.E.) was born in Philadelphia but has called Tucson home since 1999. Raised in a black Baptist church where gospel and R&B was king, Briant says the deep, rhythmic bass lines and drum beats have stuck with him. Briant is percussionist and vocalist with 8 Minutes to Burn, percussionist with Top Dead Center, and founder of The Lineage Project. 8 Minutes to Burn performs on Saturday, June 1, at Sky Bar and headline the FaR OuT Band & Fan Jam in Snowflake on June 7 and 8.”

“8 MINUTES TO BURN is excited to play Durango as the first stop on our Spring Tour of the Southwest U.S. to promote our new single Electric Li-Ion that has been described by the Tucson Weekly as: 'a slinky tune that seems to merge all of the band's influences into one song' that 'was recorded live in December of last year at the Bisbee Royale.'”

“Local funk-rock-reggae jam ensemble 8 Minutes to Burn is heading out on tour soon, and to get word out about it, they've done something pretty cool and unusual (around these parts, anyway). The band issued a new single earlier this year: "Electric Li-ion," a slinky tune that seems to merge all of the band's influences into one song, was recorded live in December of last year at the Bisbee Royale. Along with the release, the band announced a remix contest in conjunction with 8M2B Productions, local-centric online radio station AZOverload.com, and KXCI's Electric Feel DJs. The band made available 16 tracks to DJs and producers, and asked them to create an EDM remix out of them on a deadline. AZOverload.com played the tracks and had listeners vote for their favorites, narrowing the field down to the top five.”

“The International Electric Li-Ion Remix Contest is open to DJs from all over the world, who will be given 16 recorded tracks from the 8 Minutes To Burn Show that was held at The Bisbee Royale in December of 2012. The DJs will all have a particular amount of time to complete an EDM remix of these tracks prior to the party and their remixes will be played on AZOverload Internet Radio and potentially on KXCI and KAMP Radio Stations as well. Based on listener feedback, 5 finalist will be selected. At the Remix Party on May 2nd these five remixes will be played for the audience after a 1 hour set by guest artist ZeroZero. The audience will vote on their favorite mix and a winner will be selected. After the winner is selected, 8 Minutes To Burn will perform a 20 minute set featuring Electric Li-Ion and a premiere of a new-never-heard-before single from the forthcoming Electric Li-Ion Album.”

“As a dancer in the audience I couldn't help but be moved and even almost brought to tears with how much 8 minutes to Burn really seemed to be putting their all into the entire production. By the time the show ended, I was at such a high level that as they walked off stage I was baffled, thinking that they were just going to take a break. Thanks for the musical healing guys! This is Tucson.”

“Today, we present 8 Minutes to Burn! This funky jam band has been around for quite some time and they, honestly, just rock. It's the same kind of bass-driven rock that reminds me of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, to be quite honest...so make sure to get yourself over there for tunes that, in my humble opinion, shouldn't be missed.”

“The Funky Ass Jam Band, 8 Minutes to Burn”

“8 Minutes to Burn epitomizes a genre that is under represented here in Tucson, and they do it smashingly well. For fans of reggae with bluesy departures and bits of spaced-out rock, this is the real deal.” ”
