Q: So, just heard Nine Inch Nails is getting it back together with Adrian Belew on Guitar. I used to know him before my total obscurity. Does this grouping of musicians make sense to you guys? D

A: As I understand, Belew is just one of a number of talents bought in by reznor for the new 2013 tour..Eric Avery is in there too..and they're coming to play our shores at Reading this year, so that'll be great.. can see why Trent needs to do this..he's been off locked in with Fincher for a while doing those film scores so he probably wants to blow off some steam!! But i've never really though of NIN as being a "band", more of a Trent thang which he brings folks in on, so I really don't feel either way that Belew is involved..he's still (along with Fripp) one of the greats, and it promises to push another lush, layered and detailed sound forward for the NIN lineup. Most of these guys are old men now anyway, so the backstage bickers and shenanigans should merely represent Grandpa Simpson and Jasper at the Retirement Castle having a meandering old-folks moment together!!
