Biography

12 the Band is a musical collaboration founded in 1999 by singer and song writer Sheldon Holder.  12’s permanent members are Sheldon Holder, Brendon Moore, Nigel Irish and John Hussain.

12 has toured Britain playing in some of the prominent night clubs on the Central London music scene like The Sin Club, The Bar Fly, Momo’s Cargo and Canvas and has performed live on the BBC Radio Show “Outlook ".  12 has also played at the Birmingham Carnival, Nottinghill Carnival and the Yaashantewaa Calypso Tent which is the first and only calypso tent in London.

The Band has performed in the Alliance Francaise Fete de La Musique opening for international recording artistes such as Chris Combette and Orange Sky and has played on the same stage as Mungal Patasar and 3 Canal, two of the premier recording and performing groups out of Trinidad and Tobago.

Within recent times 12 has had the distinguished pleasure of being captured in the BBC 2 radio documentary on Caribbean life and music hosted by renowned British recording artist Joan Armatrading as well as being published in the London Telegraph, receiving kudos from Joan herself, being described as “one of the great undiscovered talents of the Caribbean". 

In June 2008, the Band completed  its debut album Streets and Avenues and performed live at the prestigious Caribbean Fashion Week in Jamaica, accompanying one of Trinidad and Tobago's finest designers, Robert Young of the Cloth.  Following this performance, they went on to perform at the London Calling Music Conference in London.

In March 2009, 12 will be performing at the Canadian Music Week.
